I have been on here around a year now and I have uploaded nothing. This is partly due to my insecurity involving my art, and that not all my characters are even physically designed (and some I doubt I can successfully---bustle dresses, how intimidating!), and another part of it is the annoyance of having to draw something, scan it, clean it up...But, now with the beautiful (free) FireAlpaca, I could try to put more up, except I'm very newbish when it comes to drawing and coloring digitally.
Then there's the other thing; most of my characters ARE disabled and I didn't make them like that to get pity for them (pity is never right...). This includes Kira. I am disabled (that's all I'll state for now), and I am fully aware of stereotypes of disabled people (and there are A LOT) and I don't want the characters' disabilities to be used against them and against me for whatever reasons (Yes, they can consent, yes, they know what that means...etc). Yes, I worry and I worry a lot. I would love to be more open about myself and about certain characters, but it will have to be privately between those I'm close with because I am a private person and because of stereotypes and the many -ist "ideals" that are in past and current culture.
So, now that I weirdly ended up getting that out of the way, the reason I titled this characters is because I plan to post things about characters not only from IYS, but from one of my future e-book serials about disabled people in the early 20th century (plus the ones from my fandom serial, about fandom---to be specific). One of them I have a decent amount of her background on, her name is Eva, and she comes from an immediate family of lower-ncome lasped-renewed-but lasped Catholics and is an Aquarius (Feb 9). She and Kira are disabled in the same way, except obviously born and raised in different times and cultures.
So...yeah...
Blaaaargh!
